Survey

New in version 2.1 of My Blood Pressure is the ability to participate in an optional survey.

If you choose to send the survey, your raw readings will be anonymously sent to the my-blood-pressure.com server. We plan to use the surveys to calculate statistics such as average blood pressure readings, average number of readings per week etc. This information will be anonymously presented in the newsletter and on the website.

Only your raw readings are sent. Your name and any notes you enter with the readings are not sent. The system is designed to be 100% anonymous. If you have any questions about how the survey works or what the results will be used for, please do not hesitate to email us at support@my-health-software.com.

The information from all surveys will be aggregated and presented publicly on our website and newsletter. Please note: It is impossible for us or anyone else to identify the source of an individual survey. Your survey response is guaranteed to be anonymous.

To Send the Survey

  1. To open the survey, click on the Help menu, then click on Survey.
  2. Optionally enter answers to the survey’s questions; whether you are male or female, your age and the reason you monitor your blood pressure.
  3. Click the Send button.

Network Problems

My Blood Pressure may not be able to send the survey to the my-blood-pressure.com server for a number of reasons. If it is unable to contact the server, a dialog is displayed with the error message and buttons to Retry or to Send by Email.

To troubleshoot a network problem:

  • Do you manually connect to the internet? If so, connect before sending the survey.
  • Do you use a proxy to access web sites? If so, click on the Advanced Options… button and enter your proxy details.
  • Do you use a firewall? If so, you may need to allow My Blood Pressure to connect to the internet. (DNS and HTTP)

If you can not resolve the network problem, click on the Save to File button and send the survey file to survey@my-blood-pressure.com. Note: Sending a survey by email is not anonymous, however a computer program on our server will extract the attached survey and anonymously save it. It will not be associated with your email address.

Survey Privacy Information

If you choose to participate in the survey, a file is created that contains the following information:

  • A secure one way hash of your keycode and username.
  • The date and time of your readings + the systolic, diastolic and pulse numbers. (Notes are not sent).
  • The answers to the questions on the survey window.

This file is then anonymously sent via HTTP POST to our website.

The file contains a one way hash (using the Secure Hash Algorithm) of your keycode and username. It is cryptographically impossible to determine what your keycode or username is from the one way hash. This hash is used to detect duplicates and to replace older surveys by newer surveys.

If you wish to inspect the contents of the survey before sending, click on the Save to File button to save the survey to your hard drive.
