How to use a pulse oximeter

I wanted to share this good short video of a respiratory therapist explaining how to use a pulse oximeter device. Even if your pulse oximeter looks different to the therapists, there are lots of good tips to learn from this video.

There are many different brands of pulse oximeters for home monitoring. She uses a portable finger pulse oximeter, that looks a few years out of date to me. The newer pulse oximeters are smaller and neater. When used properly a pulse oximeter is a useful tool for monitoring blood oxygen levels in those who may be at risk for low blood oxygen. This includes, those at high altitude, athletes, climbers, pilots, asthmatics, patients with respiratory diseases, COPD and those who are ill or recovering from illness or surgery.

It is an informative video, however I think she forgot to say make sure you track your readings with My Blood Oxygen software. :)
