It seems strange to me that with so many sufferers there is no decent forum for hypertensives. Those that are active seem frequented by advertisers and weirdo’s! I was hoping that this area might become one but it seems a bit quiet. a shame as to my mind the my blood pressure s/ware could legitimately be described as ‘best of breed’!

Does anyone know of a good forum? Or can we try harder to make this the centre of all things hypertensive!

    Hi Jon,

I agree! The forums that I have found seem to have too much spam and not enough people posting about their high blood pressure. This forum is quieter than Steve and I thought it would be. Maybe those who home monitor have their blood pressure under control? Smiley That’s not always true!

    Thank you!

That would be my vote! :-) Steve is currently working on converting our website so that comments can be left on the news items/blog posts that I write. Unlike the forum, those news items/blog posts do get a good number of readers. I think because the news items/blog posts headlines show up in the programs, more people see them.

We have planned to add comments to our website for a few months now, and because of this, we have not really been promoting the forum as much. One idea that Steve has is to “fold” all current forum posts into the new blog comment system, and then close the forum.

I guess if between now and when the new website is ready the forum becomes more active we might not do that :-) In any case we are looking at ways to build more of a community.

Thanks for posting Jon. You have inspired me and hopefully others to share.

    Thanks! Kellie

I think a lot of people have become shy when it comes to forms. I joined and am a member of the ADA (American Diabetes Form) and a Walk Club form for exercise. At first it was fun and very informatitive. And from time-to-time I go back and read the info on both forms, but then …..!! Personality clashes, “it’s my way or the highway” issues pop up and all he!! breaks out. For me it was too much acrimony and angst to bother with. And besides I did not balance my form life with my personal life very well. So for me it wasn’t a good fit.

Thanks for your thoughts. We have not had any ‘personality clashes’ on our forum. I think most people with high blood pressure or health conditions are keen to learn ideas for improving their health. Perhaps as you said it comes back to being a little shy and time poor.

    Thanks! Kellie
