I’m not sure how the word “African-American” is being used here (a lot of times in the U.S. the term is applied to all black folks whether they are from the USA or not); but the principle applied in this is more than likely not limited to folks of color but all folks.
I’ve been exercising (intentional walking = planning how many miles I walk and at what pace) since Feb 24th, 2006 and I need a calculator to keep track of all the people, all ethnicities, all ages, all social strata, who have told me 1) it is useless, 2) I will injure myself and have used ridicule, tried intimidation, shame, etc. to waylay me from my journey of exercising. As a type II diabetic, first diagnosed in the summer of 2001, I have gone from a A1C of 12.5 to a current one of 5.8 (USA calculation). I have gone from a size 18, or a very tight 16, to a size 10, loose fit, or a snug size 8.
Ya just gotta do what ya gotta do to be healthy!
